Facebook chat has gone through changes over the years. It's referred to as Facebook Messenger on the social networking website now, and there is an app called Facebook Messenger for mobile devices that sync with online messages. Facebook Messenger includes written and video chatting and automatic logging of all your chat conversations.

To find a past message thread on your computer, select the message icon on the top bar of any Facebook page to see a list of your most recent Message conversations.
